One way to keep your membership site members longer is to tease them with upcoming content.

No, not in a bad way. Just in a way that lets members know what is coming up next month. You want it to be good enough that those people that are thinking about cancelling say to themselves, I will hang in there for one more month to get that.

And the next month maybe they will say it again.

The Membership site teaser is really about quality information and good copywriting with the teaser. For example, you would not want to write a teaser for next month and then not deliver on it, as that is a sure way to get a flood of unsubscribes as soon as the information becomes available.

You’d be more likely to stay in a membership site if you wanted next months content, such as:

Next Month: 50 tips to make more money with membership sites in 10 minutes or less.

Next Month: 30 Weight Loss Tips you have NOT heard about already

You get the idea. Just one sentence like that can increase the length of time you retain members in your membership site and increase your membership site profits.

You might be asking yourself how fast can I make money with a membership site?

The fact is, membership sites are harder than a normal ebook site and will take longer to make money with.

However, membership sites have a great monthly reoccuring revenue, so they are worth the effort as long as you are willing to put in the work up front.

There are several places that you will get slowed down if you are setting up your first membership website.

Membership Site Technology. I went through 6 different technologies until I found the WONDERFUL WP Wishlist. If you are familiar with WordPress and you buy that plugin, you will save months of headaches setting up membership sites. Since I was already using 1ShoppingCart to integrate my membership site, it was even easier.

Membership Site Content Creation – It is easy to get lost in too much content creation upfront. You have to have a core value and then you need to keep adding to it monthly. People spend too much time here initially before they even know if the concept is going to sell well.

Membership Site Marketing – Even before you set up your membership site, you need to set up a blog or basic website to start marketing the domain where your membership site will eventually reside. Search engines look at the age of the domain and the content and topic of the domain as a way to rank your membership site in search engines. Start now and get your domain noticed in Search so when you really launch your membership site you are ready to get some traffic.

How fast you can make money with a membership site really depends on how fast and efficient you can master these three issues. There are some other issues like retention and your sales page, but ultimately they fall into being part of the membership website content creation and membership site marketing categories.

I do not think that there are “Secrets” to many things. Instead, I think there is True behind the hype.

Membership Sites are not an easy way to get rich.

Instead, they are a great way to build residual income that can keep growing.

And eventually, if you get the right combination of niche audience, good content and sharpen your membership websites marketing skills, you can eventually make a good living running multiple sites.

The secret? The secret is that it is work, it does take time and it is not a get rich quick scheme.

If you want a secrets besides this, invest in the membership website tools that are not too expensive but are better than the free membership website tools. The free memebership website tools will only make you spend too much time figuring things out. Look to the right to see what membership website tools I recommend.

You may go weeks getting steady search engine traffic and no new members. Then, you get a week - or even an hour – when you get a flurry of new members for your membership website.

You should test and try different membership site sales copy, price points and bonus offers, but do not give up on your effort before it has had time to work. You only know if it is effective if you have had 1,000′s of people look at it.

Marketing Membership Websites – Tip #2

You have a target market that your membership site is designed for. The next thing you want to do is create a free ebook to give away one your membership site to get leads names and emails. This book must be good, but not so good that they do not need to join your membership site.

For example, you could write about how to use Twitter to promote a business (If marketing is your membership site) and you could give the best tip, and tell them to watch the video and read the article for more information in the membership site.

Then you have the autoresponder set to keep sending emails periodically to the people until they sign up or unsubscribe. You can sell your membership site membership as well as other things that you know that target audience needs, such as affiliate products.

If you are just setting up a membership site, your challenges are technology, payment, hosting and membership site setup.

Once you get past that, and by no means is that easy for new people, you have a couple of additional issues.

Marketing a Membership Site

Marketing your membership site is essential to your success. You may feel proud of finally launching your membership site – but if no one finds out about it, you will not be proud for long because you will be the only member of your membership site.

Do not assume that your marketing site, no matter how good, will create members. You need a membership site marketing plan.

Promote your membership site every day. There are a lot of ways to promote your membership site online.

Don’t assume 3% of china will buy your membership site. If you are a new entrepreneur, this is for you. A common error people make in a marketing plan for membership sites or any other product is that they will look at the big market and then say, “I just want 1%” – Come on and get real. Look at your market and ask yourself – “how many of these people in this market can I reach 5 times with my marketing budget?” That is a more realistic number.

Membership Site Participation

This is the other thing that will annoy you the first time you start a membership site. Many of the members of your membership site will not participate, or even use the membership site.

Know that it is coming and don’t be dissapointed. People join because they like the idea, but they sometime do not take action. For that reason they stay in but do not use it.

Members may hit a stumbling block in your membership site. You might need to find out where people get stuck and create better content to get around it.

You need to participate to get other people to participate.

Membership Site Reality

The simple membership site reality is that even when you launch, you will have a lot of new, ongoing issues around membership site marketing and membership site participation. Be ready for them.

Website membership pricing and retention is an important issue. Here are some things to consider.

Is it better to have someone for two months or for 24 months?

The first membership website I set up I initially priced at $99 per month. The site included job leads, so it seemed like a great deal. In fact, one of my first members was making $3,000 per month from the new clients he got, so it was a great value for him.

However, many people signed up and did not get clients immediately, and because $99 per month was a large amount for this particular audience, they would cancel after 1 or 2 months.

So I later updated the website membership pricing to $9 a month. At this rate, people no longer cancelled, but eventually their charge cards would not get processed and they would not bother to renew.

This brings up an interesting point. Are you better off making $198 the first two months and having a smaller group or are you better off making $118 over 12 months and having a larger group?

Some other factors: At $99 I had a lot of people ask for refunds because they wanted to cancel it but forgot. At $9 per month I simply refused to do refunds and no one has ever asked for a refund. Much less hassle and far fewer cancellations.

From a profit standpoint, the higher rate is better. From a management standpoint, the lower rate it better.

Currently that membership site has pricing of $27 per month. We have not had it that price long enough to see how it will impact the various website management issues yet.

Keep in mind that every audience is different. You need to assess these issues and do price testing for your membership website as well.

iLearningGlobal is the top membership site available to today’s professionals. iLearningGlobal is also an MLM that allows everyone to market it and earn income.

If you are looking for a quality membership site that will take care of everything and all you have to do it market it, then iLearningGlobal is the product for you.

iLearningGlobal has taught me a lot about how to market membership sites. One of the first things I did when I signed up to sell iLearningGlobal was to use the WordPress Wishlist plugin to set up a private, membership marketing membership site that is only for my downline. You can see the public blog and parts of the private training at my ilearningGlobal site.

If you are starting your own membership site, it is a good idea to also seriously consider iLearningGlobal – purchase it here. Here are the reasons you should join iLearningGlobal.

The information in iLearningGlobal will give you ideas for your own membership site.

You will see what is being done in top-of-the-line membership sites.

You can develop an additional income stream with iLearningGlobal.

You can hone your membership marketing skills by aggressively growing your iLearningGlobal downline.

Some people you meet via iLearningGlobal may become your affiliates or partners.

You will be working with and learning from some of the greatest minds in business.

To find out about how to join iLearningGlobal you should visit: Join iLearning Global and read all about it.

Membership Site Marketing Tip #2

If you are using WordPress and the Wishlist Membership Plugin, you can do a very clever thing with your membership website.

When you are in the WordPress WYSIWYG Editor, you can choose to add the more market (It is a button that looks like two pages that are broken.)

If your page is protected for members only, the part before the more marketer will show up and then when someone chooses to continue reading they will get sent to the join page instead of get to finish the article.

Now with some creative writing you can take a normal article and make it into an extrordinary membership site marketing effort.

For example, if you were running a membership site for Halo (a video game) and you were telling people cheats for the game, you could put the more tag just before a very juicy piece of information.

The same goes for any topic. Consider if I have an article about 10 tips to build your membership site and in the intro I said, “…and number 4 will save you thousands of dollars alone…” Then I put the more tag right after number 3.

In that situation, people are already skipping one, two and three and looking for #4 – and they have to join for $27 to find out how to save thousands. Seems like a good deal.

Good luck marketing your membership site.

Marketing your Membership Site – Tip #1

This is a series of marketing tips to use to promote your memberhip website.

Marketing Tip #1 – Pay Attention to Analytics

On on of my membership sites, I had a search term that was occasionally showing up in my Google analytics.

I took a look at the team and my placement in Google, and found that by adding a few words and getting 2-3 links from other websites, I was able to go from 2-3 visitors per week via that search term to 50+ per day.

The public content on your membership site is an important part of your marketing strategy. If you have keywords that are already perfoming ok, it is often very easy to make them perform very well.

But measure and track everything – you could also damage great ranking if you are not careful. Marketing your membership site takes a constant effort
